The Manchester Guardian is built around a simple idea: Manchester and Coffee County deserve local media that pays attention, asks meaningful questions, and keeps the community informed.

Jayson Dunlap, Founder and Host of The Manchester Guardian

Jayson Dunlap

Jayson Dunlap is the founder and host of The Manchester Guardian.

Originally from Hokes Bluff, Alabama, Jayson came to the Manchester area in 2021 while working as a contractor. In 2023, a career transition in the oil and gas industry led Jayson and his family to officially make Manchester their home.

Jayson is a veteran of the United States Army, a husband, and a father of five. Having grown up in a small town, he quickly connected with the close-knit character of Manchester and the sense of community that defines the area.

His longtime interest in government, politics, and civic participation eventually led to the creation of The Manchester Guardian.

As founder and host, Jayson leads interviews and conversations with local officials, community leaders, business owners, residents, and others whose decisions and experiences affect Manchester and Coffee County.

“The goal is not to tell people what to think. The goal is to ask the questions, provide the information, and let the community decide for itself.”

Local Journalism Should Be Close to the People It Serves

Show Up

Local reporting starts with being present in the community and paying attention to the issues that matter locally.

Ask Questions

Difficult questions can be asked directly while still treating the people involved with fairness and respect.

Verify the Facts

Reporting should be built on documentation, public records, interviews, and information that can be reasonably verified.

Let People Decide

Our role is to provide information and context so residents can reach their own conclusions.

A Growing Local Media Platform

The Manchester Guardian began with conversations, but the mission extends far beyond the microphone.

Our growing digital platform includes local news, government coverage, public safety, business, education, community stories, events, interviews, and The Manchester Guardian Podcast.

As The Manchester Guardian grows, so will the team behind it.
